 Mike Nelson's photography career spans three decades, where he served as a senior or contributing photographer for myriad publications highlighted by countless features, portfolios, photo essays, travel stories and cover shots. Mike also filmed and produced three surf documentaries  — Couch Tour,  North of Nowhere and ESM’s Always Right, two of which are regarded as "cult classics" in the New York Surf Scene. Mike was also a small business owner and a event promoter. A mentor and supporter and steward of all things surf in the Empire State. Mike and his business partner, took their retail baby, Unsound Surf Shop, from just an idea and grew it into the cornerstone store of New York surfing; while their annual surf contest, the Unsound Pro, has gained distinction as one of the most progressive surfing events in the United States. Mike Sold his interests in unsound surf in 2023, and Today Mike spends his days running Greenroom Property, a busy boutique imaging and media company, specializing in creating high quality digital media for many large Real Estate Brokerages and Long Island businesses. He lives in Oceanside, NY.
